TITAN

Televisual Interactive Terminal and Associated Networks

Who we are

About 20 partners from various sectors (industry, broadcast, cable networks, universities, telecommunication, services, and public authorities) founded in 1994 a non-profit making organization named Titan (Televisual Interactive Terminal and Associated Networks) in order to contribute to the study and the developments of digital AV programs and services.

At the start, the association constituted a Laboratory (that association gave up at the time of the first wave of digital industrialization) and a Forum.

For more than eight years now, Titan association and its partners are contributing actively to the promotion of a global digital information management in reference to international standards in order to suggest solutions of structuring information, tracing of projects (description of process) and interoperability in heterogeneous systems (Ontologies and application tools).

For this purpose, the NGO organizes in Amsterdam an event entitled: European Media Wrapper Round Table. The objective of the EMWRT is to confront regularly the points of view on the problems of handling of particular cultural objects which are audio-visual contents, pictures and the metadata's which characterize them. The documentation concerning these events is published inside EVENTS.

The association is also in charge of the dissemination of the project Eureka-Celtic MediaMap project which deals with new dimensions of information management and communication in the media. In this project, the members developed semantic technologies on the basis of W3C standard in accordance with the developments carried out within the framework of Web 3.0 and Linked Open Data (LOD).

All the documents included in this site are public in so far as during their use the reference to the non-profit organization Titan is clearly mentioned.
