Titan a.s.b.l.
About 20 partners from various sectors (industry, television, teledistribution, universities, telecommunication, service industry, and public authorities) founded in 1994 a non-profit making organisation named Titan (Televisual Interactive Terminal and Associated Networks).
Their idea was to create a structure facilitating the transition towards digital communication technology based on the following principles:
- providing all users with the advantages of digital technologies.
- upgrading existing infrastructures.
- experimenting with new digital standards.
- specification of an open conditional access system.
- making recommendations to the relevant public authorities on the standardisation process.
Titan was conceived to fulfil two functions: a permanent forum on the one hand, and a laboratory to develop new interactive services on the other.
