The Reference Model
In the feasibility phase of the InfoCities project, a Reference model for the Technical part of the model has been elaborated. It is expressed in a 70 pages document, illustrated with three presentations (for teaching and further improvement). That model has been qualified by the answers to a questionnaire of the partners of the InfoCities Consortium.
Simultaneously, the elaboration of the Reference model for the Business part has been started. But the information gathered was insufficient or lacking to define a solid model. Such an effort was only possible after that all the members of the consortium had written their Business plan. Indeed, the template used for the business plans has been improved but not radically based on a systematic model duly consolidated.

The Taxonomy
However, at the far end of the InfoCities project, one of the member of the InfoCities consortium (Titan) has elaborated a Taxonomy based on the experience gained during the project and from the Business plans presented in the final deliverable. This public deliverable presents the Technical Reference model and the taxonomy for the Business model and for the Management model with illustrations coming from the InfoCities project. So, the three pillars of the overall model are:

1. The Management Model
2. The Business Model
3. The Technical Model

The terminology used can be found at several places depending on the domain

1. General technology
2. Document & Messages
3. Service oriented
